E-Mail & FAQ

  • We will occasionally send infos via e-mail. These mails are sent to your e-mail address that you specified upon registration. You must read this e-mail regularly.

  • We will discuss technical details in our FAQ. There we will also answer questions that we received and that are of general interest.

  • Es wird gelegentlich Infos per E-Mail geben. Diese E-Mails gehen dann an die Adresse, die bei der Registrierung angegeben wurde. Du solltest diese E-Mailadresse regelmäßig lesen.

  • Normalerweise werden wir technische Details in unserer FAQ erklären. Dort werden wir auch auf Fragen antworten, falls sie von allgemeinem Interesse sind.

Work Sheets / Aufgabenblätter

We will hand out an exercise sheet every week in the tutorial. At the same time the exercise sheet will be available for download from the website. The problems have to be solved in teams of two students. The assignment to teams is done as part of the registration process. You have one week to finish the exercise sheet. You can solve the problems using the IRB computers (Telefunken building, 1st and 2nd floor), or you can use any other computer. But the resulting programs must run correctly on the IRB machines.

Every week there will be a meeting (discussion group) where you explain your solution of the appropriate exercise sheet. You have completed a work sheet successfully when it has been approved by the tutor.

Es wird jede Woche in der Zentralübung ein Aufgabenblatt ausgeteilt. Gleichzeitig steht das Blatt auch auf der Internetseite zum Download bereit. Die Aufgabenblätter werden in Teams von zwei Student/innen bearbeitet. Die Einteilung erfolgt bei der Anmeldung auf unserer Seite. Die Bearbeitungszeit der Aufgabenblätter ist eine Woche. Die Aufgaben können entweder auf den IRB Rechnern (Telefunken Gebäude, 1. und 2. Stock), oder an jedem anderen Rechner bearbeitet werden. Sie müssen jedoch auf den IRB Rechnern laufen!

Es wird jede Woche eine Abnahme (Diskussionsgruppe) der jeweiligen Praktikumsaufgabe geben. Eine Aufgabe ist erfolgreich abgeschlossen, sobald diese vom Betreuer akzeptiert wurde.

Weekly events / Wöchentliche Termine

There are four weekly events:

  • Tutorial: We will hand out a new exercise sheet and give some hints on how to solve the problems in this sheet. Recommended!

  • Submission deadline: Submit your solutions on time! You can find details in the FAQ. Compulsory!

  • Discussion group: Your solutions will be presented and discussed with the other students and your tutors. Compulsory!
    Location: IRB pool, Telefunken building, 1st and 2nd floor.

Es gibt vier wöchentliche Termine:

  • Zentralübung: Ausgabe der Übungsblätter und zusätzliche Hinweise zur Lösung der Übungsblätter. Empfohlen!

  • Abgabetermin: Eure Lösungen müssen fristgerecht abgegeben werden. Abgabedetails findet Ihr in der FAQ. Verpflichtend!

  • Diskussionsgruppe: Präsentation und Diskussion Eurer Lösungen mit den anderen Studenten und Euren Betreuern. Verpflichtend! Termine werden noch festgelegt.
    Ort: IRB pool, Telefunkenhochhaus, 1. und 2. Stock.

Discussion Groups / Diskussionsgruppen

The discussion group meetings take place once per week. Participation is mandatory! If you are not able to attend this meeting, you must inform all (!) tutors via e-mail (praktikum@lists.net.t-labs.tu-berlin.de) before the discussion group starts.

How do discussion groups work?

  • The tutor determines one or more groups which have to present their solutions. Note that all group members must be able to explain the complete solution. You should not only explain what it looks like but also how you obtained the solutions and what problems you encountered. Note that these are important factors, considered in grading.

  • Afterwards the tutor will also check briefly the solutions of the other teams. He also may ask you to explain certain aspects of your solution.

Die Diskussionsgruppen findet einmal pro Woche statt. Die Teilnahme ist verpflichtend! Falls jemand an einem bestimmten Termin aus guten Gründen nicht teilnehmen kann, muss er/sie vorher eine Mail an alle (!) Betreuer praktikum@lists.net.t-labs.tu-berlin.de senden.

Ablauf der Diskussionsgruppen:

  • Der Betreuer wählt eine oder mehrere Gruppen aus, die ihre Lösung präsentieren sollen. Dabei ist es wichtig, dass alle Gruppenmitglieder die komplette Lösung erklären können müssen. Man sollte nicht nur erklären, wie die Lösung aussieht, sondern auch wie man auf die Lösung gekommen ist und welche Probleme dabei aufgetaucht sind. Dieser Aspekt spielt bei der Bewertung Eurer Lösungen eine wichtige Rolle!

  • Anschließend schaut sich der Diskussions­gruppen­leiter auch die restlichen Lösungen kurz an. Möglicherweise wird er Euch bitten, bestimmte Aspekte Eurer Lösung genauer zu erklären.

Grading System & Solutions / Punktesystem & Lösungen

  • For each exercise sheet you need 25% of the total points. One exception per semester is permissible.

  • You need 75% of the total points.

  • Each team must present the complete solution at least twice per semester to the other students and tutors in the discussion groups.

  • Presence in the discussion groups is mandatory.

  • Each question will be graded in the following way:

    100%

    Correct and complete solution (does not need to be the optimal solution).

    75%

    Mostly correct solution. Small details are missing or are incorrect.

    50%

    Approach is correct, but implementation has several mistakes. Still, the student has made up his mind and figured out an approach to solve the problem.

    25%

    Rudimentary approach, incomplete and incorrect implementation.

    0%

    Not submitted or completely wrong. The student did not make any efforts. Fundamental things not understood.

  • To sum up: One obtains 75% for a solution with bugs. For a not implemented plaintext-description one will get at most 25%.

  • If you don't explain your solution well, you will get less points.

  • If you cannot explain his/her solution the exercise will be graded with 0%! (The team partner is unaffected by this.)

    My teampartner did that part is not an excuse!

  • The total achievable points of an exercise depend on the difficulty of the problem.

  • Auf jedem Aufgabenblatt müssen mindestens 25% der erreichbaren Punkte erzielt werden. Eine Ausnahme im Semester ist erlaubt.

  • Man benötigt 75% der insgesamt erreichbaren Punkte.

  • Jedes Team muss mindestens zweimal seine komplette Lösung den anderen Studenten und Betreuern in der Diskussionsgruppe vorführen.

  • Anwesenheit in den Diskussionsgruppen ist verpflichtend!

  • Jede Aufgabe wird wie folgt bewertet:

    100%

    Korrekte und vollständige Lösung (muss nicht der Musterlösung entsprechen).

    75%

    Weitgehend vollständige Lösung. Kleinigkeiten fehlen oder sind falsch.

    50%

    Ansatz ist richtig, aber die Implementierung weist mehrere Fehler auf. Es ist erkennbar, dass der Student sich Gedanken gemacht hat und einen halbwegs plausiblen Lösungsansatz gefunden hat.

    25%

    Ansätze erkennbar, aber sehr unvollständige  und flasche Implementierung.

    0%

    Nichts abgegeben oder völlig falsch. Der Student hat sich keine Mühe gemacht. Fundamentale Aspekte wurden nicht verstanden.

  • Zusammengefasst: Man bekommt bereits 75% für eine Lösung mit Bugs. Für nichtprogrammierte Plaintext-Beschreibungen bekommt man allerdings höchstens 25%.

  • Wer eine Lösung schlecht erklärt, bekommt Abzüge in der Bewertung.

  • Wer eine Lösung nicht erklären kann, wird mit 0% bewertet. (Der Teampartner ist davon nicht betroffen.)

    Das hat aber mein Teampartner gemacht zählt nicht als Entschuldigung!

  • Die Aufgaben werden nach Schwierigkeit mit Punkten gewichtet.
