Organisation
Please register if you want to take the exercises.
Every student taking the exercises has to hand in a solution for the homework. Solving the homework in teams is not allowed. Copying solutions will result in consequences. (Worst case: not passing the exercises and thus loosing the 2 SWS and 3 LP.)
Submission of Solutions / Abgabe der Lösungen
There are two possibilities to submit your solutions of the assignments:
-
Bring your solution to the lecture and put it into the well-known box in the last row.
This has to be done on wednesdays, until 10:05 a.m.!
-
Bring your solution to the Telefunken building and put it into the post box behind the porter's lodge.
This can be done all week, but latest on wednesday, 9:50 a.m.!
The post box will be cleared each wednesday before the lecture at 9:50 a.m.
Good Luck!
Viel Erfolg!

Hints / Hinweise
Hints about the exercise sheets, if necessary, that will be send via e-mail to all participants can also be found here:
- 1st Assignment:
-
Question 1, problem (c):
There is an error in the english version of the exercise sheet. It should be 16 users instead of10users. Solutions to both problems will be accepted. -
Question 2:
You could for example use one of the following two websites to look up distances:
• http://www.geobytes.com/CityDistanceTool.htm - 2nd Assignment:
-
Question 2: What is a round trip time?
A round trip time (RTT) is the time that is required to get, e.g., a packet from a source to its destination and back to the source. It is not necessary to transmit the same information on the way back. - 3rd Assignment:
-
Question 3, problem (e):
Assume a system that is comparable with TCP/IP or, e.g., ISO/OSI. -
Question 3, problem (e):
The question in the german version should have been:"Welche Informationen benutzt ein Prozess, um einen Prozess auf einem anderen Rechner zu identifizieren? (Hinweis: Es gibt drei dafür relevante Teilinformationen.) Erkläre, warum jede dieser Informationen notwendig ist."
- 5th Assignment:
-
Question 1, problem (e): "For Which of the two mechanisms Go-Back-N or selective Repeat should problem 1(e) be answered? Or should it be answered generally?"
It should be answered generally. Nevertheless, if you have an answer for one of the mechanisms only it might be the same solution for the other protocol or it should be at least easily extendable. - 6th Assignment:
-
Question 4: "The file should have 18000 bytes and 450 lines. Does that mean that in addition to the 18000 bytes 450 "\n" need to be added?
No. The 450 linebreaks are included in the 18000 bytes. - 7th Assignment:
-
Types of Delay and Sequence plots: L is the length of the packet to transmit and R is the available bandwidth.

- 8th Assignment:
-
Question 2, problem (b): New verbalization of the german version:
(The second sentence war re-phrased. Also, the letter O was replaced by L ("Länge/Length") to avoid confusions with the number 0.) -
Question 2, problem (b), english version:
Replace the variable O by L (to avoid confusions with the number 0). - 10th Assignment:
-
Question 1, problem (c):
The address 172.8.0.5 should of course be 172.18.0.5.Question 2: " In the given graph the node I doesn't have any connections to other nodes. Is it mistake?"
No. - 11th Assingment:
-
Question 3
You can use this tabular for the solution.
