It seems that there is some misunderstanding regarding the meaning and interpretation of group work. We do allow and encourage group work but we require that each of you is handing in a separate solution. As such starting from the 5th assignment we require you to adhere to the following rules:

• Please get together in a group, discuss the assignment, and work out the correct solution—but (and this holds especially for free text parts):

• Every student must write up his or her own solution. It is not OK to copy complete paragraphs. Our motivation for this rule is that every student should understand the solution he or she is handing in. As such it is no longer tolerated to solve the homework by cut-and-paste. Moreover, since we cannot decide who is the original author we will grade all copies of same solution with zero points. This means that once we discover the same paragraph in two or more homework solutions we will grade all these solutions with zero points.

• It is not neccessary to produce handwritten solutions, and it is allowed to copy-and-paste outputs of programs into you solution.

In addition we want to remind you that copying solutions verbatim from the Internet or other third party sources has never been allowed. This is considered plagiarism and we will grade it with zero points. If we discover repeated offenses by the same student the student will not pass the class. Please refer to a decision of our department for further details.

Please register if you want to take the tutorials.

Every student taking the tutorials has to hand in a solution for the homework. Solutions are only accepted on paper.

There are two possibilities to submit your solutions of the assignments:

1. Bring your solution to the lecture and put it into the correspondingly labelled box at/near the lecturers desk.

   For the german lecture this has to be done on wednesdays, until 10:15 a.m. !

   For the english lecture this has to be done on wednesdays, until 12:15 p.m. !

2. Bring your solution to the Telefunken building and put it into the post box behind the porter's lodge.

   This can be done all week, but latest on wednesday, 9:50 a.m.!

   The post box will be cleared each wednesday before the lecture at 9:50 a.m. (for assignments in both languaages).

The details for registering for the exam are to be announced and will be given in the lecture and the tutorials as well.

You need 50% of the possible points to pass the tutorials.
Again: Not passing the tutorials means that you will only get 2 SWS/3 LP for this course. This does not satisfy the requirement of the module "INET BASIS".

There will be a grading bonus for those who achieve sufficient points for their homework solutions (tutorials):

• a bonus of 0.3 if at least 60% of the possible points are achieved.

• a bonus of 0.7 if at least 75% of the possible points are achieved.

The requirement for granting the bonus is to pass the exam without the bonus! (Those who do not pass will not pass due to the bonus.)
