Measurement
Masterclass 2006 (Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, UK): Hardware
selection for monitoring (from 11.12.2006 PDF)
Topic: Performance evaluation of packet
capturing systems in high-speed networks.
My Diplomarbeit (comparable to a master thesis) is answering the
questions, arising from my SEP. To perform exact
measurements I had to enhance the
Linux Kernel Packet Generator, write a small load monitoring
tool and write a program (called createDist refer
to LKPG) for counting, calculating and producing packet
size distributions. Nevertheless the main focus was again on the
measurements. This time regarding multi-processor systems, utilising the
BPF filter mechanism, and additional load. Furthermore different systems in
terms of operating systems (Linux and FreeBSD) and/or architectures (Intel
Xeon vs. AMD Opteron) were investigated.
An SEP, is a project work required for the orals of the course of studies.
The topic was Analyse der
Leistung von BPF und libpcap in Gigabit-Ethernet Umgebungen which
means "Analysis of the Performance of BPF and libpcap in Gigabit-Ethernet
Environments". The work dealt with question, if it is better to perform
packet capturing with Linux or with FreeBSD. Regrettably, my slides and
my thesis are only available in german.
Besides of the afore mentioned SEP and my
master thesis I composed additional
and perhaps useful writings, unfortunately all in german:
Slides to the attended seminar (necessary for the
intermediate examinations) "UNIX-Tools" with the topic
vi: Introduction to the
editor vi (from 06.12.1999, PostScript, german) I supplied a handout to this talk, too (from
07.12.1999, PostScript, german).
incomplete Notes on the
Course Logik: Gleichungslogik of Prof. Nipkow in summer semester
2000 (from 09.01.2001, PostScript, german).
My topic in the "XML-Seminar" was XForms. In addition
to my paper (from
11.01.2001, PostScript, german) two sets of slides were composed: The
first textual talk (from
17.01.2001, PostScript, german) explains the theory and the second set of
examples (from 17.01.2001,
Postscript, german)
hand-TeXed formulary for my intermediate examination in my
minor field of study - Physics. Experimental Physics 1 & 2:
Mechanics and Thermodynamics
(from 08.03.2001, PostScript, german), II
Electromagnetism and Optics" (from 08.03.2001, PostScript, german).
The topic of the following slides are breaking the ranks:
Introduction to Sociology with respect to
Socionics (from 26.04.2001, PostScript, german)
accompanied by the paper:Socionics -
Building multiagentsystems modelled on the human society
(from 26.04.2001, PostScript, german).
Gave a talk for the practical course distributed application on
Web Services Description Language
(WSDL) (from 13.03.2002, PostScript, german).
